Given Vanilla’s bubbly and rather bashful personality, her origins are rather grim. Born in the streets of Ul’dah and left to starve. Vanilla had to fight to survive all her life and in her youth she participated in many fight rings and did various odd jobs just to feed herself.Some years later she was adopted by a Female Miqo’te. Vanilla was excited to finally have a family but after that day, she hasn’t seen her adopted mother since. After her ‘adoption’ Vanilla began to feel abandoned by her would-be family and fell into a depression. With no one to raise her in her empty home Vanilla could only think of the world the way she had always seen it; Joyless, Merciless, and without giving a damn about her. When Vanilla was feeling down, she would always go outside and watch the night sky. The stars above always made Vanilla feel better, the vastness of the sky making all her worries seem so small.Once Vanilla turned the age of 13, she wanted to leave and make a better living for herself. It was the only thing she could think to do. She then ventured out, training herself diligently and reading books to educate herself. She would then go out into towns, Seeking to help those who had been injured by the monsters just outside the city walls and healing them in the hopes of understanding aetherial healing and how she can make an impact on Eorzea.She began adventuring and traveling all over Eorzea, it was during this time she came across two young boys. A young Miqo’te and Au Ra. She thought the two an unusual pair but could not leave the children in the cold just as she had long ago. She chose to adopt the curious pair, The Miqo’te was named Nanashi Sato and the Au Ra was named Mungestu S’bihmo.After arriving in Doma and taking care of her two boys she continued her journey, arriving in the Faerie Kingdom. It was there she found yet another Miqo'te, this man was a bit younger than her son and seemed to be in a lot of pain. Without another word or allowing for protests she took him in as well. The name given to him was Xofre Tia as was found embroidered on the cape of his armor. She felt sorry for the man as he may never remember anything about his past or who he was. She then decided to rename him M’ziro Redsteele, giving him a new life with her and his adoptive brothers.In addition to Vanilla’s three boys: Mungestu, Nanashi, and M’ziro; she recently adopted one more child at the request of her youngest, M’ziro. Vanilla, being the sweet soul that she was, couldn’t refuse any of these children and took them in immediately. The child's name was Natsuki Redsteele, a shy and reserved Miqo’te girl who was a blood relative to M’ziro.As the years went by she continued to broaden her horizons, Not only learning how to wield a sword and shield properly without falling over, but a multitude of other styles. Each Style more intriguing to her than the last. Her thirst for knowledge was unmatched and with it she continued to work and learn until she acquired the status of mentor, willing to learn and help others in need no matter the cost to herself.More recently Vanilla has been in contact with a very interesting Au Ra by the name of Qin Ottile, his most striking feature being he doesn’t have horns, instead he has long Elezen ears. Vanilla, feeling particularly close to the man, decided to make him her brother. This made her extremely happy. Not only does she have family she’s never had before, but she also feels safe and secure and surrounded by those who love her.
